Homework

 I will begin assigning weekly homework on Mondays. Students have the week to complete the work. There will not be a lot of work to complete and students can work at their own pace, selecting convenient or free evening to get it done.  Homework will include a weekly ReadWorks assignment and some language and/or math activity online. Some chosen work will be intentional to support their learning in other subject areas. Some weeks, homework will be focused or linked to holidays, celebrations, cultural events, discussion points, topics of student interest. Students will find the assigned work in Google Classroom under the heading Homework for Mrs Brown.  Other work posted on Google Classroom during the week is to support learners who are stuck at home due to illness or because their family is awaiting Covid test results. Welcome to the 2021-2022 year! I'm so pleased to be your child's teacher this year. We are going to have an excellent year. Last year was a year unlike no other and we have learned to adapt, pivot and be flexible! It looks like this year is beginning in the same way that we left off last year... but it's nice to see how far we have come since last September.  We are all adapting and adjusting together and I will do everything I can to keep your child safe and give your child an engaging, meaningful, fun year. I am married and I am the mom to two boys (age 11 and 13). In the summer, our family enjoys spending time on our boat fishing, playing on the beach and in the water, biking and playing tennis. We often travel to the Rockies to enjoy some hiking, climbing and fresh air. In the winter, our family is usually at the hockey rink or on the backyard rink.
